Every year on January 23, the security industry comes together to recognize National Security Technician Day — a day dedicated to honoring the technicians who install, maintain, and repair the systems that protect people and property.

At the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST), we see this day as an important opportunity to raise awareness and encourage the industry to pause and say thank you to the technicians who make security work. These professionals do essential, often behind-the-scenes work, and their impact is felt every day. National Security Technician Day is about making that work visible.

How to Participate on January 23

Celebrating doesn’t need to be complicated. A few simple actions can help create a meaningful, industry-wide moment of appreciation:

• Post on January 23
  Share a message of appreciation on social media using #NationalSecurityTechnicianDay. When many individuals and organizations post on the same day, it creates a visible wave of recognition across the industry.
• Tag and Recognize Technicians
  Tag technicians by name and thank them for their work. A short note of appreciation goes a long way.
• Share Photos or Videos
  Celebrating your technicians? We’d love to help amplify it. Send FAST photos or short videos of your technicians along with a sentence or two of appreciation, and we’ll share them from FAST’s social channels throughout the day.
• Celebrate Internally
  Not all recognition needs to be public. Team lunches, notes of thanks, or a moment of recognition during the workday all help technicians feel seen and valued.
